Francisco Castilleja, a experienced tour-guide from Casa Eronukuri in Erongaricuaro,
offers guided cultural tours around Lake Pátzcuaro for up to 20 people. Families
and children are welcome. His main intention is to give you some insight into the
local cultural tradition. Tours are conducted in Spanish, English, French or German,
and can be customized to suit the groups interest, but typically center on the villages
around the lake, where close contact with the last local P'urhepecha Indians (the
care-takers of the multicolored Indian corn) and rural Mexican live is emphasized.
There are beautiful Pine and Oak forests around Erongaricuaro, where we can take
you for a relaxing walk or a more extensive hike, to enjoy nature.
Among other attractions there are sites with the ruins of pre-Columbian pyramids
to see, as well as a beautiful monastery with impressive old olive trees. You can
also choose from a variety of other activities such as horseback riding, bird-watching
trips, boat trips to the islands of lake Pátzcuaro visiting artisan crafts markets,
a traditional Mezcal-Still or tasting delicious regional food in Restaurants around
the lake.
Casa Eronukuri also offers workshops that cover subjects like:
- Self-Reflection and guided meditation - Oral Spanish
- Indian philosophy - Poetry
- Local traditional cooking - Painting
- Mexican history - Batik
- Intercultural exchange
